Whakaahua o Faerie Glen, Isle of Skye

Small Landscape, Big Dreams by Ian Cylkowski

One of the Big Ticks for Lisabet and I on this year’s expedition around Skye was the Fairy Glen. There aren’t any signs for it, but you can find it on the southern side of Glen Uig, inland from the coastal village of Uig. And what a magical place it is! The Fairy Glen is very much a sort of miniaturised highland landscape, featuring a small loch, little valleys, trickling waterfalls, and a mini-pinnacle known as Castle Ewan (you can just see two people standing on top of it). The Glen was actually created by a landslip, a common occurrence across the Trotternish Peninsula. After a fairly dull sunrise, the sky eventually broke up and allowed the sun to spill through the clouds, illuminating this mythical place. =) goo.gl/dTzNIi Fairy Glen, Glen Uig, Uig, Trotternish, Isle of Skye, Scotland. ISO100, f/9, 1⁄20sec at 12mm (18mm full-frame equiv.) using a circular polariser and a hard 2-stop ND grad filter stacked on my Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 lens attached to a Nikon D7000. I shot four of the same exposure for focus stacking. Processed with Capture One, edited in Photoshop.
